Graduation Year. My graduate program is very experiential. Being in a counseling education program for MFT, I feel that this is the biggest pro of the program. It really gives you a chance to practice necessary counselor skills and develop yourself as a therapist. Cons would be lack of teachers and support, at times.
This is trying to be worked out for future cohorts and I do hope it is. Everyone comes in with real world experience and applies it to what we are talking about. Tremendous value compared to similar programs. Well rounded focus on public policy and public administration. I feel like I will have many opportunities available to me when I graduate and the schedule isn't overwhelming. The readings can be a little heavy, but we have discussions in class that help clarify the readings. The best part is the practice class and internship.
They do a great job tying it all in together. However, I think the requirements to get into the program should be raised. Because the program is still so small, the quality of students getting into the program is not very high.
It is located in the State Capitol and many of your cohort works in state politics giving you many networking opportunities. Teachers demand a fair amount of you. Each class had less than 1.
The setting allows for thoughtful discussion and debate. Sacramento is a great place to live.
